Ring's mission is to reduce crime in neighborhoods by creating an effective and affordable "Ring of Security" around homes and communities. With the Ring product line of home security devices and Neighbors - a neighborhood watch app that provides real-time, local crime and safety information - Ring offers whole home and neighborhood security. Many neighborhoods where Ring devices are installed on even a small percentage of homes have seen significant decreases in home break-ins.

Ring was founded in Santa Monica, CA, in 2012 by serial entrepreneur and inventor Jamie Siminoff. The company was acquired by Amazon in 2018.
