Alex joined Upfront Ventures in 2025 after investing at Lux Capital and completing the Schwarzman Scholars program in Asia. Before Lux, Alex was the first controls engineer at Cometeer, where he helped lead the commissioning of the company’s first full-scale manufacturing facility. He also served as a Managing Partner at Dorm Room Fund, investing in AI/ML startups, and spent seven years in research labs focusing on integrated photonics, neural interfacing devices, and machine vision models.

Alex graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and Economics and holds a Master of Management Science from Tsinghua University in Beijing.
